Who We Are
Gather for Children is a Ugandan NGO empowering and supporting women/care takers, young mothers in Mityana (Namable, Namukozi and Nyanzi) to care and educate their children and vulnerable children (which include orphans, abandoned or young mothers) through farming. The organization was started by singer Iryn Namubiru and community members in 2006 and officially registered as a Community Based Organization in 2015, then received its NGO certification in 2016.
What We Do
Advocacy
In an effort to advocate for the rights of caregivers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children through creating awareness on human’s rights, stigma and discrimination and disseminate information related to health. We do this by creating and maintaining information on available resources.
Economic Empowerment
In an effort to combat poverty among caregivers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children, we engage our members in small income generating activities like crop growing, rearing of animals, vegetable farming, and piggery in order to improve on their live hood.
Free Legal Services
With the help of other human rights organizations like H.R.A.P.F (Human rights awareness and promotional forum) and chapter 4, we do referrals for free legal aid caregivers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children whose rights are violated
Research And Documentation
We do research and documentation to know what is taking place around the issue of human rights and equality and also to know the activities that are being done by other organizations in the same field to reduce the multitude of harmful consequences resulting from fighting the wars on stigma and discrimination which will reduce on the incidences of death and crimes by caregivers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
